As Chairman of the Projects and Procurement Sub-Committee at the City of London Corporation, I am delighted to share our annual Responsible Procurement Impact Report 2026. It celebrates the positive outcomes delivered through our supply chains, and showcases the many ways our suppliers have supported our communities over the past year.
Responsible procurement is a process that considers the environmental, ethical, economic and social impacts of suppliers and the entire supply chain when assessing and awarding contracts. It is essential in public procurement to ensure that funds are used sustainably, benefit people, the environment, innovation and avoid unnecessary spending through unethical practices. The UK Procurement Act 2023 enhances the public transparency and accountability in procurement, including responsible procurement as a core aspect in law.
This is our third Responsible Procurement Impact Report and I am proud to share the many ways our supply chain has supported communities, strengthened partnerships and delivered meaningful social impact over the past year.
At the City of London Corporation, we believe responsible procurement is not an optional extra — it is fundamental to how we deliver excellent services, tackle climate change, promote inclusion and create opportunities for people and communities to thrive. Every purchasing decision is a chance to generate wider value for society.
This year, we received more evidence of positive impact from our contract managers and suppliers than ever before. Together, our partners have supported apprenticeships, championed small and diverse businesses, reduced carbon emissions, advanced modern slavery awareness and invested directly in local communities.
These achievements demonstrate what is possible when organisations work together with shared purpose. Partnership is woven into the DNA of the City Corporation and remains essential to delivering the best outcomes for the people we serve.
My sincere thanks go to all our suppliers and partners for their commitment, innovation and generosity. While we are proud of the progress made, we know there is always more to do — because, as we often say, better never stops.
