City of London: Ben Murphy elected Chairman of Projects & Procurement

I am delighted to have been appointed Chairman of Corporate Projects and Procurement at the City of London Corporation, alongside Deputy Chairman, Philip Woodhouse.

The Corporation currently procures around £700m of goods and services annually, with almost 1,200 third party contracts live, valued at £2.7bn. It also has around 300 projects live, valued at £2.5bn, delivering exciting infrastructure for London and beyond.

I join this fantastic team at an exciting time in their transformation journey, as new tech capability is being rolled out across the Corporation’s 2,500 employees and as significant changes to the UK Procurement Act 2023 come online.

In the months ahead, I look forward to working with colleagues on this vast and varied portfolio, to help apply overview and scrutiny early, to ensure delivery of projects on time and (at least!) on budget, and to procure high quality services which deliver value for money from socially responsible partners.
