BBC’s Great British Railways visits Epping Forest

Tonight’s episode of Great British Railway Journeys sees Michael Portillo make a stop at Epping Forest – the largest and most historic open space the City of London Corporation manage as a registered charity.

In the programme, Michael meets Ben Murphy, Chairman of the Epping Forest and Commons Committee, and Tanith Cook, Head of Conservation, to learn more about the work done to protect thousands of ancient trees and pollarded woodlands.

At around 8,000 acres, Epping Forest is nearly nine times the size of New York’s Central Park and attracts over 10 million visitors a year – that’s almost the population of Sweden!
