Pollinating London Together

Today, we were delighted to welcome an exhibition from Pollinating London Together at the Guildhall, alongside the Lord Mayor of the City of London, Alderman Michael Mainelli, the Chairman of the City’s Natural Environment Board and the Chairman of the Hampstead Health, Highgate Wood and Queen’s Park Committee.

Pollinating London Together (PLT) was created with a specific mission: to create spaces in central London where all the natural pollinators can thrive, and their habitats can be enjoyed with everyone, starting in the City of London. The longer-term vision is to create a template for change and action through leadership that can be implemented in urban environments across the UK.

Established in 2020 by the Worshipful Companies of the Wax Chandlers and Gardeners, PLT began as a collaboration between the City of London’s livery companies. The PLT team is a collection of individuals from across the livery community and collaborating organisations, each bringing their own expertise and skills to the team, along with the broader support of their livery companies and organisations. The team also includes scientists and artists working for the benefit of pollinators and human health and wellbeing related to green space ecology.

In March 2022, PLT was awarded a two-year Community Infrastructure Levy Neighbourhood Fund (CILNF) grant from the City of London Corporation to help create and map biodiversity corridors across the City of London, for the benefit of pollinators and the health and wellbeing of people.
