Assistant Director Commercial and Charity Governance and Fundraising

Are you experienced in charity governance and income generation?  We’re looking for someone who understands the intricacies of generating income through charitable events, schemes, and donations and who has good knowledge of other income-generating opportunities for our open spaces. About Us

The City of London Corporation manages 11,000 acres (approximately 4,500 hectares) of land in and around London that is enjoyed by over 16 million visitors annually. Whilst there are small pockets of land within the Square Mile, the majority can be found elsewhere in London and the surrounding counties. The City Corporation acts as Trustee of 10 charities which, through their various objects, are responsible for the preservation in perpetuity of a large proportion of these award-winning open spaces.

The role

We are recruiting an exceptional and experienced candidate to lead on delivery of the Natural Environment Charity Income Strategy. The postholder will work closely with our senior management team and Board of Trustees to co-lead the Natural Environment Charity Review and to lead and manage the growth of our fundraising programme. This exciting role will suit a tenacious and innovative relationship builder, keen to make their mark on a growing aspect of our charity in a dynamic way. The candidate will devise and implement strategies to build and manage partnerships, working creatively to establish new income streams from major donor sources. They will also support our work with corporates, trusts and foundations.

The ideal candidate

You have exceptional knowledge of charity legislation and local government. You have a good understanding of legal compliance of charitable activities. You have an extensive history of fundraising and generating income. You have a proven track record of fiscal propriety. You have excellent communication, presentation skills and experience of negations and buy ins from SLT and Committee members. You are passionate about seeking new fundraising opportunities and comfortable organising high-profile events.
