Bishopsgate: Wardmote 2024 Invitation

As some of you may be aware, Bishopsgate is one of 25 wards in the City of London. Each ward elected a number of Councillors and one Alderman.  In Bishopsgate, we have 6 Councillors, each of whom are elected by a diverse mix of residents and business workers based in the area which surrounds Liverpool Street Station.

As a team, we are really keen to hear about the issues which matter to you. The annual Wardmote is a great opportunity to come along and hear what we have been doing to deliver improvements in the City of London on your behalf.  There is also an opportunity to ask questions, either within the formal setting of the meeting or informally afterwards.

The Wardmote will take place from 5-7pm in the Courtyard Room, Bishopsgate Institute, 230 Bishopsgate, London, EC2M 4QH

2024 is set to be another busy year for the Bishopsgate Ward. The Office for Rail and Road have recently confirmed that Liverpool Street Station is now the busiest station in the UK with 80.4m passengers annually.  This year, the City’s Planning Committee will also have to determine how the station may need to adapt to meet future demand.

The City of London Corporation will shortly launch a new 5-year Corporate Plan. This will focus on 6 key strategy areas: Dynamic Economic Growth, Vibrant Thriving Destination, Diverse Engaged Communities, Leading Environmental Sustainability, Flourishing Public Spaces and Providing Excellent Services. Critically, the success criteria will also be published up-front this year so we can monitor the impact of resource allocation more effectively.

If you are unable to attend the Wardmote, our contact details are published on the City of London’s website and we have also just launched a new Bishopsgate Ward Councillors page on LinkedIn. It is one of several ways we try to keep people updated on the work we are doing in a simple and accessible format.  Do come and join us.

With best wishes,

Simon Duckworth, Tom Sleigh, Wendy Hyde, Ben Murphy, Shravan Joshi, Andy Mayer
