I was delighted to be a guest of British Land at the City Property Association’s annual lunch at Guildhall today.
The CPA is a not-for-profit membership body and advocacy group representing the major owners, occupiers, developers, investors and advisers to real estate in the City of London, with more than 150 member companies and an associated network of nearly 1,500 professionals.
They seek to represent the property industry as a collective voice to inform policy and help drive economic prosperity of the City. They do so by commissioning research, hosting seminars and receptions, sharing best practice and showcasing the property industry’s contribution to the Square Mile.

As well as publishing annual joint research with the City of London Corporation, they have led on the creation of a new digital platform, One City, to help promote the City’s increasingly diverse leisure, retail and cultural offer to a younger generation of workers – who are so critical to the area’s future appeal to business and its ongoing success.
During the lunch, we heard speeches from Ross Sayers, the CPA Chair and Head of Development Management at Landsec and Janen Ganesh, Associate Editor for International Politics at the Finance Times.

Some really interesting insights were shared how how international politics may impact the role the United Kingdom plays attracting investment, business growth and talent over the next decade.
I was encouraged to hear the upbeat mood in industry and support for the government’s growth agenda.
