Pleased to join the City of London Police’s Road Safety Engagement Event at an extraordinarily busy Bank Junction this morning, to see first hand how the Police are addressing unlawful behaviour by riders and drivers, while providing educational outreach to everyone walking, cycling, or driving within the Square Mile.
This initiative forms part of the Vision Zero Plan, which includes a comprehensive suite of measures to eliminate fatalities and serious injuries from traffic collisions.
The event also coincides with Road Safety Week, a national campaign run by road safety charity Brake, and supports Transport for London’s Highway Code Campaign.
As with all things City of London, we work best when we work in partnership, so it was good to see a representation from the Walking and Cycling Commissioner for London Will Norman, City of London Corporation’s Road Danger Reduction team, Lime Bikes and VOI Bikes, Bikeworks Cycle Mechanic, Speedy Hire (HGV and Exchanging Places setup), Visually impaired representatives to highlight road safety impacts and the Cheapside BID, alongside the City of London Police Cycle Team and Neighbourhood Policing Team.
